Celebrating 40+ Years as the Sweetest Place in Kansas City

Chip’s Chocolate Factory is a family-owned and operated small business, proudly based in Kansas City. Since we created Kansas City Fudge® and opened our doors in June 1983, visitors from around the globe have come to enjoy a one-of-a-kind experience in "chocology."

Today, we're honored to be the third local family to own and care for this Kansas City tradition. Chip’s Chocolate Factory and the Kansas City Fudge Company® have always been locally owned and family run, and our fudge is still made with the same recipes, the same equipment, and the same methods as the day we opened.

Every batch of our famous Kansas City Fudge® is still hand crafted the old-fashioned way, using techniques that date back more than a century to when fudge was first created. The marble tables and copper kettles in our kitchen are the same ones we started with in 1983. They stand as a quiet but unwavering promise: to use only the finest techniques and the freshest ingredients, every single time.

For more than four decades, we've poured that same care into every chocolate and confection we make.  We offer over 40 flavors of our irresistible Kansas City Fudge®, over 200 hand-made chocolate confections made with premium imported Swiss Chocolate, a variety of delicious nut brittles, and hand-roast our very own Cinnamon Roasted Nuts.  We also carry a broad selection of delectable hand-made truffles, baked goods, our own hand-spun cotton candy, a wide selection of sugar-free chocolate, and a selection of gourmet bulk candy.

Our mission is to share the unique flavor of Kansas City through the hand-crafted chocolate and confections of the highest quality.

Our vision is to be a time-honored tradition for families, and a landmark experience for residents and visitors of Kansas City. 

The Owners

Hi, we're Ashley and Tim Counts!

Anyone who visits Kansas City knows it doesn’t take long for this town (and its barbecue, and its fountains…. and its fudge) to steal your heart.  We’re both born-and-raised Missourians, so when we started to build our family we knew this was the place to be.

We didn't just want to live in Kansas City; we wanted to be part of its traditions. So we decided to dive headfirst into a tradition that's been making Kansas City sweeter for generations. We take our role as caretakers seriously. (Well, mostly seriously. It's hard to keep a straight face with this much chocolate around.)

When Ashley is around, you’ll usually find her taste-testing the newest creations or trying to convince the team that wildly impractical (but adorable and festive!) creations are manageable. Tim enjoys perfecting his fudge-flinging techniques – but step back, he’s been known to miss the table as much as he lands it!  You may even spot our three littlest employees in the shop. Their official titles are Chief Executive Helpers and Expert Taste Testers, and they're extremely dedicated to quality control.
